GENERAL PROVISIONS 1 The general building authority approval is the evidence of the usability of the object of the certificate in terms of the German state building regulations. 2 The general building authority approval does not replace statutory permissions, consents and certificates required in order to carry out building projects. 3 The general building authority approval is issued without prejudice to the rights of third parties, particularly private proprietary rights. 4 Manufacturers and distributors of the object of the certificate, without prejudice to the provisions of the "Special Regulations" shall provide the user of the object of the certificate with copies of the general building authority approval and shall refer to the fact that the general building authority approval must be present at the point of use. On request, participating authorities shall be provided with copies of the general building authority approval. 5 The general building authority approval may be reproduced only in its entirety. Excerpts may be published only with the consent of the Deutsche Institut fŸr Bautechnik. Texts and drawings used in advertising copy may not contradict the general building authority approval. Translations of the general building authority approval shall include the note "Translation of the German original document not checked by the Deutsche Institut fŸr Bautechnik". 6 The general building authority approval may be revoked. The provisions of the general building authority approval may be retrospectively amended and changed, particularly if new technical knowledge requires change. SPECIAL PROVISIONS 1 Object of certificate and scope of application 1.1 Object of Certificate The thermal insulation composite system ÒMARMORIT WARM-WALL System THDÒ consists of a 40 mm, 60 mm or 80 mm thick thermal insulation material made of wood fibre insulation boards (WF) according to DIN EN 13171: 2001-10, which are applied using mechanical fastenings directly onto supporting timber structures or wall elements of timber structured exterior walls of buildings in accordance with Section 1.2 and which are coated with a special plaster system. The plaster system comprises a first layer of plaster reinforced with fibreglass tissue and a top coat of plaster. A final coat of paint may be necessary. Once installed, the thermal insulation composite system is normally flammable (building material class DIN 4102-B2 according to DIN 4102-1:1998-05) and forms a permanently effective means of weather protection in accordance with DIN 68800-2:1996-05, Section 8.2 C). 1.2 Scope of application The ÒMARMORIT WARM-WALL System THDÒ thermal insulation composite systems may only be used for thermal insulation and as a permanent effective weather protection as per DIN 68800-2:199605, section 8.2 c), for exterior walls made from timber construction, which are dimensioned and constructed as per DIN 1052-1 to 3:1988-04 Ð timber construction methods. Subject to compliance with the following provisions, these exterior walls can be classified as risk class 0 (GK 0) according to DIN 68800-3:1990-03. The thermal insulation composite system may be applied only directly to the supporting timber construction of exterior walls or directly to Lignotrend exterior wall elements according to general building authority approval no. Z-9.1-555, to HOMOGEN 80 elements according to general building authority approval no. Z-9.1-220 or to solid wood according general building authority approval or to plank elements. It is not permitted to apply the thermal insulation composite system to board materials. The maximum admissible building height for the use of the thermal insulation composite system is 20 m above ground level unless the respective state fire protection provisions specify lower building heights. The thermal insulation composite system may not be applied to absorb or transfer loads from the building nor as reinforcement against buckling or lateral torsional buckling. 2 Regulations for the thermal insulation composite system 2.1 Properties and composition 2.1.1 General The thermal insulation composite system ÒMARMORIT WARM-WALL system THDÒ and its components shall correspond to the following provisions of this general building authority approval and to the specifications lodged with the Deutsche Institut fŸr Bautechnik. 2.1.2 Thermal insulation material ÒAgepan TIÑID 230 tongue + grooveÒ thermal insulation boards are wood fibre insulation boards manufactured using the dry process according to DIN EN 13171:2001-10 Ð factory-made products made of wood fibres, specification - and require WF-EN 13171 -T3-CS(10/Y :) 200-WS1,0. Z-33.47-673 from the 29th March 2006 The thermal insulation boards are available in thicknesses of 40 mm, 60 mm and 80 mm. The thermal insulation boards measure 1875 mm x 625 mm. The tensile strength vertical to the plane of the board shall be at least 8 kPa*. The fire behaviour of the boards shall correspond to the building material class DIN 4102-B2 according to DIN 4102-1. The edges of the boards are designed for tongue and groove joins. The mean gross density according to DIN EN 1602:1997-01 is 230 kg/m3. The insulation boards have a approx. 6 - 8 mm thick, compressed topcoat. The gross density profile, composition and further characteristics shall correspond with the specifications lodged at the Deutsche Institut fŸr Bautechnik. 2.1.3 Fasteners The thermal insulation material is fastened to the subsurface using the following fasteners: ¥ "ABC SPAX-S rostfrei" wood screws made of non-rusting steel with a shaft diameter of at least 3.7 mm according to general building authority approval number. Z-9.1-235. ¥ ÒHaubold BreitrŸckenklammern der Serie BS 29000 rostfreiÒ staples (in accordance with DIN 1052-2, with exception of the staple cross member width, which must be 27 mm) made of non-rusting steel with dn .. 2.1 mm. ¥ Ófischer FAHKÓ comprising a galvanised special screw (Zn . 5 .m in accordance with DIN EN ISO 4042) with a Delta Seal (three layers, total 6 .m) duplex coating and a holding disk made of polyamide PA6, MRA, 14-030 according to DIN EN ISO 1874. It must comply with specifications in Appendix 4. The fasteners used shall comply with the specifications lodged at the Deutsche Institut fŸr Bautechnik. 2.1.4 Under plaster The under plaster ÒMARMORIT SM 700Ò and ÒMARMORIT LustroÒ are to be drymix mortars according to DIN EN 998-1 and shall conform to the recipes lodged at the Deutsche Institut fŸr Bautechnik. The product properties can be found in Appendix 2. Note the applicant's specifications. 2.1.5 Reinforcement The ÒMARMORIT ArmiergewebeÒ reinforcement shall consist of coated glass fibre tissue. The tissue shall comply with the properties according to table 1. The tear-strength of the tissue after artificial ageing shall comply at least with the values according to Table 2. The composition of the finish coat shall comply with the recipes and further specifications lodged at the Deutsche Institut fŸr Bautechnik. 2.1.7 Paint The Paint ÒMARMORIT Siliconharz EG-FarbeÒ shall be a silicone resin emulsion/styrene-acrylate dispersion. The composition of the paint shall comply with the recipe and further specifications lodged at the Deutsche Institut fŸr Bautechnik. 2.1.8 Accessories Accessories, e. g. skirting, edge and jointing profiles shall consist of at least normally flammable building materials (building material class DIN 4102-B2). Accessory materials shall be compatible with the plaster system used. 2.1.9 Thermal insulation composite system The thermal insulation composite system shall consist of the products according to Sections 2.1.2 to 2.1.8. The installed thermal insulation composite system shall fulfil the requirements for normally flammable building materials (building material class DIN 4102-B2 according to DIN 4102-1:1998-05). 2.2 Manufacture, packaging, transportation, storage and identification 2.2.1 Manufacture The building products according to Section 2.1.2 to 2.1.8 are to be factory-made on the manufacturerÕs premises. The thermal insulation composite system made of the building products according to Sections 2.1.2 to 2.1.8 may be produced in the factory (e.g. prefabricated houses) or on the construction site. 2.2.2 Packaging, transportation, storage The building products in accordance with Section 2.1.2 to 2.1.8 shall be stored according to the manufacturer's specifications. The insulation boards are to be protected against damage and inadmissible moisture ingress, e. g. from falling over, ground moisture etc. 2.2.3 Identification The packaging of the building products according to Section 2.1.2 to 2.1.7 shall be provided with thesymbol of compliance (†-Zeichen) by the respective manufacturer according to state conformity by laws. The building product packaging shall also bear the following: -Name of the building product -Use-by date (if applicable) -Storage conditions This identification is permissible subject to compliance with the conditions according to Section 2.3. Z-33.47-673 from the 29th March 2006 2.3 Proof of compliance 2.3.1 General 2.3.1.1 Proof of compliance by certificate of compliance The confirmation of compliance of the thermal insulation material according to Section 2.1.2, of the fasteners according to Section 2.1.3 (staples and Òfischer FAHKÒ only), of the base plasters according to Section 2.1.4 and of the overall thermal insulation compound system with the provisions of this general building authority approval for each factory shall be by a certificate of conformity based on internal production monitoring and regular external monitoring including an original inspection of the building product in accordance with the criteria of the following provisions. The manufacturer of the building product shall appoint an acknowledged certification centre and an acknowledged monitoring centre to issue the certificate of compliance and to carry out external monitoring including the required product testing. If the applicant is not also the manufacturer of the individual components of the thermal insulation composite system, it shall ensure by contractual means that the products used for the thermal insulation composite system, as specified subsequently, are subjected to certificate-compliant external monitoring. The certification centre issuing the certificate of compliance shall provide a copy to the Deutsche Institut fŸr Bautechnik for information purposes. 2.3.1.2 Proof of conformity by manufacturers declaration with original inspection The confirmation of compliance of the reinforcement according to Section 2.1.5, of the finish coats according to Section 2.1.6 and of the paint according to Section 2.1.7 with the provisions of this general building authority approval shall be provided by each factory taking into account Section 2.3.1 with a manufacturer's declaration of compliance based on internal production monitoring and an original inspection of the building product by an accredited test centre. Should the test centre be unable to complete the original inspection by itself, it shall collaborate with further accredited test centres but shall retain overall responsibility for the test report. 2.3.2 Internal production monitoring Internal production monitoring shall be arranged and implemented in every factory. Internal production monitoring refers to the continuous monitoring of production by the manufacturer by which means it ensures that the building products which it produces correspond to the provisions of this general building authority approval. The internal production monitoring shall include at least inspections of the characteristics according to Section 2.1 and the tests according to Appendix 3. The provisions of DIN 4102-1:1998-05 apply for fire performance tests. The Òfischer FAHKÒ fasteners are also subject to the additional regulations of the testing and monitoring schedules lodged at the Deutsche Institut fŸr Bautechnik which form an intrinsic part of this general building authority approval. The results of the internal production monitoring shall be recorded and evaluated. The records shall include at least the following information: Ñ Description of the building product and/or the feedstock and its constituents Ñ Type of monitoring or test Ñ Date of manufacture and testing of the building product and/or of the feedstock or its constituents Ñ Result of monitoring and tests and, where applicable, comparison with the requirements Ñ Signature of the person responsible for the internal production monitoring German Institute of Building Technology 13 ((Seite 7)) Page 7 of general building authority approval no. Z-33.47-673 from the 29th March 2006 The records should be kept for at least 5 years and submitted to the appointed monitoring centre for use in the external monitoring. They shall be submitted to the Deutschen Institut fŸr Bautechnik and to the respective highest construction supervising authority on request. If the test results are unsatisfactory the manufacturer shall take immediate steps to rectify the fault. Building products which fail to comply with the requirements shall be dealt such that there can be no confusion with products which do comply. Once the defect has been rectified, as far as technically possible and as necessary for proof of the rectification of the defect, the respective test shall be repeated without delay. 2.3.3 Third party testing of the building products in the context of the proof of compliance 2.3.3.1 External monitoring For the thermal insulation material, the fasteners (staples and Òfischer FAHKÒ only), the base plasters and the overall thermal insulation composite system, each factory shall subject the in-ternal production monitoring to regular external monitoring, however at least twice a year. At least the tests according to Appendix 3 are to be executed, and in addition the fire performance tests of the insulation plate and the overall thermal insulation composite system. An original inspection of building products shall be carried out in the context of external monitoring. The sampling and tests shall be carried out by the respective accredited monitoring centre. The tests, monitoring and evaluation to be carried out within the context of the external monitoring of the Òfischer FAHKÓ fasteners are also subject to provisions of the testing and monitoring schedule lodged at the Deutsche Institut fŸr Bautechnik, which form an intrinsic part of this general building authority approval. The execution of monitoring and testing with respect to the fire performance of the thermal insulation composite system overall is subject to the provisions of DIN 4102-1:1998-05. The required proofs shall be obtained by the applicant of this certificate. The results of the certification and external monitoring shall be retained for at least five years. They shall be submitted by the certification centre or the monitoring centre to the Deutsche Institut fŸr Bautechnik and the respective highest construction supervising authority on request. 2.3.3.2 Original inspection of building products by an officially recognised test centre The product characteristics cited in Sections 2.1.5, 2.1.6 and 2.1.7 shall be tested within the context of the original inspection of the reinforcement, of the finish coats and of the paint. In the case of the original inspection of the finish coats according to Section 2.1.6 at least tests according to Appendix 3 shall be carried out. 3 Design and dimensioning provisions 3.1 General Only the building products cited in Section 2.1 may be used for the thermal insulation composite system ÒMARMORIT WARM-WALL System THDÒ. 3.2 Structural stability The structural stability was proofed for the thermal insulation composite system for the scope of application for timber construction exterior walls as cited in Section 1.2 of this general building authority approval when subjected to wind loads according to DIN 1055-4:1986-08 . The minimum quantity and arrangement of fasteners according to Section 2.1.3 is subject to Section 4.5 including Table 3. Z-33.47-673 from the 29th March 2006 3.3 Thermal insulation and climate-related moisture protection For the mathematical proof of the heat insulation of insulation boards (see Section 2.1.2) the rated value for the thermal conductivity is dependent upon the respective reference value in accordance with DIN V. 4108-4:200407, Table 2, Category 1. A rated value according to Category II applies for insulation boards in the case of which a limit value ..limit has been defined within the context of a proof of conformity based on a general building authority approval. The plaster system can be disregarded. The requirements of the climate-related moisture protection according to DIN 4108-3 shall be complied with. The specifications of Section 2.1.3 and Appendix 2 shall be used as mathematical values for the necessary proofs. In the case of particular winter weather situations and depending on the thermal insulation of the supporting wall construction the fastening elements may vary temporarily on the plaster surface with respect to the undisturbed wall due to differences in the formation of frost or defrost water. 3.4 Fire protection When installed, the thermal insulation composite system is normally flammable (building material class DIN 4102-B2 according to DIN 4102-1:1998-05). 4 Construction provisions 4.1 General structure The thermal insulation composite system shall be constructed subject to the manufacturer's processing guidelines (technical documentation). Temperatures may not fall below +5 ¡C during processing and solidification of the plaster system. 4.2 Applicant requirements The applicant is obliged to instruct all those personnel involved with the execution of the thermal insulation composite system in the Special Regulations of this general building authority approval and all additional details necessary for the trouble-free execution of the construction method. Executing companies shall be trained by the applicant or by an appointed agent about the correct application of the thermal insulation composite system particularly in joining areas. The executing company shall provide written proof of this to the client (Appendix 5). 4.3 Incoming inspection of building products The identification of all building products according to Section 2.1.2 to 2.1.8 arriving at the construction site shall be checked in accordance with Section 2.2.3. 4.4 Subsurface The thermal insulation composite system may be attached only to subsurfaces listed in Section 1.2. The subsurfaces shall be suitably dimensioned for attachment of the thermal insulation composite system with fasteners according to Section 2.1.3 taking into account the required distances to the edges in accordance with DIN 1052-2: 1988-04 and general building authority approval no. Z-9.1-235. The structural timbers, exterior wall components and board materials shall exhibit a wood- and/or board moisture content of u .. 20%. Z-33.47-673 from the 29th March 2006 4.5 Application of thermal insulation material The insulation boards shall be fastened to the subsurfaces cited in Section 4.4 using the fasteners according to Section 2.1.3. The insulation boards shall always be fastened to the ribs and/or studs when using wooden supporting structures. Note the maximum admissible vertical gaps for fasteners in accordance with Table 3. .Also take into account that each insulation board shall be fastened to least two ribs with a least 3 fasteners per rib. When fastening insulation boards to exterior wall components made of Lignotrend elements, HOMOGEN 80 - elements, solid wood elements or plank elements you must comply with the minimum number of fasteners according to Table 3. Ensure however an even distribution of fasteners, the maximum admissible vertical distance and sufficient fastening of at least the vertical board edges. The insulation boards shall be fastened in bond such that they fit exactly. There must be no open joins between the boards. Unavoidable gaps shall be sealed with equivalent insulation materials. Floating joins are permissible due to the tongue and groove form. Vertical board joins are not permitted in critical areas in terms of building physics e.g. opening corners. Note the detailed specifications of the system manufacturer. Do not install wet, contaminated or damaged insulation boards. 4.6 Applying the plaster system The base plaster according to Section 2.1.4 shall be mixed according to the manufacturers specifications and applied wet to the insulation boards in one or two operations to a layer thickness according to Appendix 2. The reinforcement tissue according to Section 2.1.5 shall be incorporated into the outer third of the base plaster. The edges of the tissue shall be overlapped by approx. 10 cm. After the base plaster has solidified, mix the top plaster according to Section 2.1.6, following the manufacturer's specifications and apply a layer with thickness according to Appendix 2. The finish coat may require painting according to Section 2.1.7 taking into account Appendix 2. Z-33.47-673 from the 29th March 2006 4.7 Further notes An closed skirting profile shall be attached to the lower edge of the thermal insulation composite system. The top edge shall be concealed to protect against weather influences. The application of the thermal insulation composite system in the spray water area (H .. 300 mm) is admissible only provided particular measures are taken to protect against the moisture. Otherwise the thermal insulation material according to Section 2.1.2 shall be replaced by an alternative suitable material in this area. For details concerning design features at openings, edges etc. and joins to adjoining components such as windows, doors etc., see the applicantÕs instructions unless the technical documentation provides design examples. The applicant's technical documentation is the basis for the execution of design details provided these do not contradict the approval. Subsequent paint applications shall be compatible with the system. The client should be reminded that subsequent paint applications may not change the water vapour diffusion behaviour of the thermal insulation composite system. Gross density profile of the insulation board The gross density profile of insulation boards shall be checked 1x daily or 1x per batch during the internal production inspection and 2x year during external monitoring. The compressed topcoat, which is 6 - 8 mm thick, shall exhibit a d density of between 380 kg/m3 and 500 kg/m3. The density of the remaining insulation board shall be at least 140 kg/m3. Measured densities may be no more than 10% lower than the specified values. 5. Test of Òfischer FAHKÒ fasteners The Òfischer FAHKÒ fasteners are also subject to the additional regulations of the testing and monitoring schedules lodged at the Deutsche Institut fŸr Bautechnik which form an intrinsic part of this general building authority approval.
